A person who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and provided them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two children both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was held in detention prior to a further hearing on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer camp which he ran.
Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the man had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and children had previously become sick the next day.
She said Ruben had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had worries in July 2025.
The legal representative added: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about the situation, with valid cause.
"They decided to examine in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel said objects including baby oil, ointment and injection devices were located, and his stepson contacted the police about his concerns.
She explained the defendant continued to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that point," she continued.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the situation.
The legal representative said the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the stepson called the authorities again.
She explained the man then engaged in the "candy game" in a room of five minors.
